Six Local Businesses Recognized For Creatively Engaging It’s Audience

Six local businesses were recognized this evening at the 4th annual Kalamazoo Social Media Week Awards Show for being a leader in engaging its audience through a variety of social media platforms. Nine awards were given, seven of which are focused on Best in Platform and the other two was Best Piece of Content and Best Overall.

“The goal of the awards is to help highlight who is doing social media well in Kalamazoo and provide opportunities for professionals who manage social media at work to learn from one another,” said Sarah Lee, one of Kalamazoo Social Media Week’s founders and director of marketing and communications for Wings Events Center.

Best Piece of Content was a public vote open to the Kalamazoo community and promoted by the nominees beginning of the week and ended on Thursday with 734 votes submitted in total. At the beginning of the week, all the nominees were invited to a luncheon to vote on who deserved Best Overall based on the nominee shortlist.

The following is the list of winners of the awards this evening:
Best Snapchat – MyWMU
Best LinkedIn Company Page – Forensic Fluids
Best Pinterest – KZOOkids
Best YouTube – MyWMU
Best Instagram – Bell’s Brewery
Best Twitter – Rhino Media
Best Facebook Business Page – Premier Jeweler
Best Piece of Content – Bell’s Brewery’s Beerentines Campaign
Best Overall – Bell’s Brewery

“We are completely honored to win these awards and to be recognized by other professionals in the area and the community,” said Josh Smith, communications manager for Bell’s Brewery. “As digital marketers, we felt [Beerentines] was an interesting way to engage fans… we were able to take something online and put it in the mail. It was our way of continuing our tradition of 30 years of inspired brewing and connecting with our fans, it was another way to continue that conversation through different media.”
